أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْثَرٌ هُوَ ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ أَبُو زُبَيْدٍ الْكُوفِيِّ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ عَنْ تَمِيمِ بْنِ طَرَفَةَ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ
خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ يَعْنِي رَافِعُو أَيْدِينَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ «مَا لَهُمْ رَافِعِينَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ كَأَنَّهَا أَذْنَابُ الْخَيْلِ الشَّمْسِ اسْكُنُوا فِي الصَّلَاةِ»
Translation

- Qutaybah b. Saʿīd
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us while we were raising our hands in prayer, and he said, “Why are they raising their hands in prayer as if they were the tails of restive horses? Be calm in prayer.”
