✧ The Prohibition of Combining between the Two Sisters

أَخْبَرَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدَةَ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَلْ لَكَ فِي أُخْتِي؟ قَالَ «فَأَصْنَعُ مَاذَا؟» قَالَتْ تَزَوَّجْهَا قَالَ «فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكِ؟» قَالَتْ نَعَمْ لَسْتُ لَكَ بِمُخْلِيَةٍ وَأَحَبُّ مَنْ يَشْرَكُنِي فِي خَيْرٍ أُخْتِي قَالَ «فَإِنَّهَا لَا تَحِلُّ لِي» قَالَتْ فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكَ تُخْطَبُ دُرَّةَ بِنْتَ أُبِي سَلَمَةَ قَالَ «ابْنَةُ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ؟» قَالَتْ نَعَمْ قَالَ وَاللهِ لَوْ لَمْ تَكُنْ رَبِيبَتِي مَا حَلَّتْ لِي إِنَّهَا لَابْنَةُ أَخِي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ قَالَ فَلَا تَعْرِضْنَ عَلَيَّ بَنَاتِكُنَّ وَلَا أَخَوَاتِكُنَّ

✧ She said: 'O Messenger of Allah, would you like my sister?' He said: 'What would I do?' She said: 'Marry her.' He said: 'Is that dearer to you?' She said: 'Yes, I am not leaving you to yourself, and the one I would love to share in good with me is my sister.' He said: 'She is not lawful for me.' She said: 'It has reached me that you are engaged to Durrah bint Abi Salamah.' He said: 'The daughter of Umm Salamah?' She said: 'Yes.' He said: 'By Allah, even if she were not my stepdaughter, she would not be lawful for me. She is the daughter of my brother through breastfeeding.' He said: 'So do not offer me your daughters or your sisters.'
