✧ The prohibition of the woman in the man's chamber.

أَخْبَرَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَيَانٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَنَّ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ

أَنَّ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنْكِحْ ابْنَةَ أَبِي تَعْنِي أُخْتَهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «وَتُحِبِّينَ ذَاكَ؟» قَالَتْ نَعَمْ لَسْتُ لَكَ بِمُخْلِيَةٍ وَأَحَبُّ مَنْ شَارَكَنِي فِي خَيْرٍ أُخْتِي قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ لَا يَحِلُّ» قَالَتْ أُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَاللهِ لَقَدْ تَحَدَّثْنَا أَنَّكَ تَنْكِحُ دُرَّةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ فَقَالَ «بِنْتُ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ؟» قَالَتْ أُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ نَعَمْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فَوَاللهِ لَوْ أَنَّهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ رَبِيبَتِي فِي حَجْرِي مَا حَلَّتْ لِي إِنَّهَا لَابْنَةُ أَخِي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ فَلَا تَعْرِضْنَ عَلَيَّ بَنَاتِكُنَّ وَلَا أَخَوَاتِكُنَّ»

✧ Umm Habibah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, said: 'O Messenger of Allah, marry the daughter of my father,' meaning her sister. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Would you like that?' She said: 'Yes, I am not leaving you to yourself, and the one I would love to share in good with me is my sister.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'That is not lawful.' Umm Habibah said: 'O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, we have been talking about how you would marry Durrah bint Abi Salamah.' He said: 'The daughter of Umm Salamah?' Umm Habibah said: 'Yes.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'By Allah, even if she were not my stepdaughter under my care, she would not be lawful for me. She is the daughter of my brother through breastfeeding. So do not offer me your daughters or your sisters.'
