✧ The permission to look at a woman before marrying her

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ أَبِي رِزْمَةَ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ وَأَبُو رِزْمَةَ اسْمُهُ غَزْوَانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سُلَيْمَانَ الْأَحْوَلَ عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيِّ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ

خَطَبْتُ امْرَأَةً عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَنَظَرْتَ إِلَيْهَا؟» قُلْتُ لَا قَالَ «فَانْظُرْ إِلَيْهَا فَإِنَّهُ أَجْدَرُ أَنْ يُؤْدَمَ بَيْنَكُمَا»

✧ I proposed to a woman during the time of the Prophet ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ said: "Have you looked at her?" I said: "No." He said: "Then look at her, for it is more likely to create harmony between you."
