✧ The permission to look at a woman before marrying her

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ دُحَيْمٌ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ قَاضِي الرَّمْلَةِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْفَزَارِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ كَيْسَانَ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ خَطَبَ رَجُلٌ امْرَأَةً مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ

لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «هَلْ نَظَرْتَ إِلَيْهَا؟» قَالَ لَا «فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَيْهَا» قَالَ لَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَاسْمُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ هَذَا سَلْمَانُ مَوْلَى عَزَّةَ كُوفِيٌّ وَاسْمُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ الْمَدِينِيُّ سَلَمَةُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ وَهُوَ وَالِدُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: "Have you looked at her?" He said: "No." So he commanded him to look at her. Abu Abd al-Rahman said to us: The name of this Abu Hazim is Salman, the client of Azza, a Kufan; and the name of the Madinan Abu Hazim is Salama b. Dinar, and he is the father of Abd al-Aziz b. Abi Hazim.
