أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ رَاهَوَيْهِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ «نَهَى عَنِ التَّبَتُّلِ» خَالَفَهُ أَشْعَثُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Isḥāq b. Ibrāhīm b. Rāhawayh
  2. Muʿādh b. Hishām from my father
  3. Qatādah
  4. al-Ḥasan
  5. Samurah b. Jundub

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ that he "forbade celibacy." Ash'ath b. Abd al-Malik contradicted him.
