al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 4936

✧ servant comes between two people, and one of them will free him, and the narrators differ in reporting the news of Abdullah b. Umar in that matter.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ أَعْتَقَ نَصِيبًا لَهُ أَوْ قَالَ شِقْصًا أَوْ قَالَ شِرْكًا لَهُ فِي عَبْدٍ وَكَانَ لَهُ مِنَ الْمَالِ مَا يَبْلُغُ ثَمَنَهُ بِقِيمَةِ عَدْلٍ فَهُوَ عَتِيقٌ وَإِلَّا فَقَدْ عَتَقَ مِنْهُ مَا عَتَقَ قَالَ أَيُّوبُ وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ نَافِعٌ هَذَا فِي الْحَدِيثِ وَرُبَّمَا لَمْ يَقُلْهُ فَلَا أَدْرِي هُوَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ أَمْ قَالَ نَافِعٌ مِنْ قِبَلِهِ يَعْنِي قَوْلَهُ فَقَدْ عَتَقَ مِنْهُ مَا عَتَقَ

✧ The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever frees a share of his, or he said a portion, or he said a share of his in a slave, and has wealth that reaches his price by fair valuation, then he is free; otherwise, he has freed of him what he has freed.” Ayyub said: Sometimes Nafi' said this in the hadith, and sometimes he did not say it, so I do not know whether it is in the hadith or Nafi' said it on his own, meaning his saying “he has freed of him what he has freed.”
