✧ Oath and lying for those who do not believe in the heart-

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ وَعَاصِمٍ وَجَامِعٍ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي غَرَزَةَ قَالَ

كُنَّا نَبِيعُ بِالْبَقِيعِ فَأَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَكُنَّا نُسَمَّى السَّمَاسِرَةَ فَقَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ التُّجَّارِ» فَسَمَّانَا بِاسْمٍ هُوَ أَحْسَنُ مِنِ اسْمِنَا فَقَالَ «إِنَّ هَذَا الْبَيْعَ يَحْضُرُهُ الْحَلِفُ وَالْكَذِبُ فَشُوبُوهُ بِصَدَقَةٍ»

✧ We used to sell in al-Baqi'. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us, and we used to be called brokers. He said: “O company of merchants,” and he called us by a name better than our name. He said: “Indeed this selling is attended by swearing and lying, so mix it with charity.”
