✧ Oath and lying for those who do not believe in the heart-

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الزُّهْرِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي غَرَزَةَ قَالَ
كُنَّا نُسَمَّى السَّمَاسِرَةَ فَأَتَانَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ نَبِيعُ فَسَمَّانَا بِاسْمٍ هُوَ أَحْسَنُ لَنَا مِنِ اسْمِنَا فَقَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ التُّجَّارِ إِنَّ هَذَا الْبَيْعَ يَحْضُرُهُ الْحَلِفُ وَالْكَذِبُ فَشُوبُوا بَيْعَكُمْ بِصَدَقَةٍ»

✧ We used to be called brokers. The Prophet ﷺ came to us while we were selling, and he called us by a name better than our name. He said: “O company of merchants, indeed this selling is attended by swearing and lying, so mix your selling with charity.”
