✧ Prohibition of benefiting from animal skins of the deceased

وأَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ عَنْ بَحِيرٍ عَنْ خَالِدٍ قَالَ وَفَدَ الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ مَعْدِ يَكْرِبَ عَلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ أَنْشُدُكَ بِاللهِ هَلْ تَعْلَمُ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ لُبْسِ جُلُودِ السِّبَاعِ وَالرُّكُوبِ عَلَيْهَا؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَصَحُّ مَا فِي هَذَا الْبَابِ فِي جُلُودِ الْمَيْتَةِ إِذَا دُبِغَتْ حَدِيثُ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

✧ Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbid wearing the skins of wild animals and riding on them? He said, “Yes.” Abu Abd al-Rahman said: The most sound thing in this chapter concerning the skins of dead animals when tanned is the hadith of al-Zuhri, from Ubayd Allah b. Abd Allah b. Utbah, from Ibn Abbas.
