✧ Prohibition of benefiting from something dead

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُفَضَّلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُكَيْمٍ قَالَ

قُرِئَ عَلَيْنَا كِتَابُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ أَرْضِ جُهَيْنَةَ وَأَنَا غُلَامٌ شَابٌّ «أَنْ لَا تَنْتَفِعُوا مِنَ الْمَيْتَةِ بِشَيْءٍ بِإِهَابٍ وَلَا عَصْبٍ»

✧ The letter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was read to us from the land of Juhaynah while I was a young boy: “Do not benefit from the dead animal in any way, neither by its skin nor by its sinew.”
