✧ The training of horses for racing

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ وَالْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «سَابَقَ بَيْنَ الْخَيْلِ الَّتِي قَدْ أُضْمِرَتْ مِنَ الْحَفْيَاءِ وَكَانَ أَمَدُهَا ثَنِيَّةَ الْوَدَاعِ وَسَابَقَ بَيْنَ الْخَيْلِ الَّتِي لَمْ تُضْمَرْ مِنَ الثَّنِيَّةِ إِلَى مَسْجِدِ بَنِي زُرَيْقٍ» وَأَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ كَانَ مِمَّنْ سَابَقَ بِهَا

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ held a race between horses that had been trained to be lean, from al-Hafyaʾ, and their course was up to Thaniyyat al-Wadaʿ. And he held a race between horses that had not been trained, from the Thaniyya to the mosque of Banu Zurayq. And ʿAbd Allah was among those who raced with them.
