al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 4267

✧ The reward for those who endure the effort and hardship of the city.

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ قَطَنِ بْنِ وَهْبِ بْنِ عُوَيْمِرِ بْنِ الْأَجْدَعِ أَنَّ يُحَنَّسَ مَوْلَى الزُّبَيْرِ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ كَانَ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ فِي الْفِتْنَةِ فَأَتَتْهُ مَوْلَاةٌ لَهُ تَسْأَلُ فَقَالَتْ

إِنِّي أُرِيدُ الْخُرُوجَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ اشْتَدَّ عَلَيْنَا الزَّمَانُ فَقَالَ لَهَا عَبْدُ اللهِ اقْعُدِي لَكَاعِ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا يَصْبِرُ عَلَى لَأْوَائِهَا وَشِدَّتِهَا أَحَدٌ إِلَّا كُنْتُ لَهُ شَهِيدًا أَوْ شَفِيعًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»

Translation

✧ “I want to leave, O Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān; the times have become hard for us.” ʿAbd Allāh said to her: “Stay, Lakāʿ, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘No one patiently endures its difficulty and severity except that I will be a witness or intercessor for him on the Day of Resurrection.’”
