✧ He said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ proceeded until he came to Arafah and found that the tent had been pitched for him at Namirah. He dismounted there, and when the sun had passed its zenith, he ordered for al-Qaswa' to be brought and saddled for him. When he reached the bottom of the valley, he addressed the people and said: "Indeed your blood and your wealth are sacred to you, like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this land of yours. Verily, every matter of the Jahiliyyah is abolished and under my feet, and the blood of the Jahiliyyah is abolished. The first blood I abolish is the blood of Iyad b. Rabi'ah b. al-Harith, who was being fostered among Banu Sa'd and was killed by Hudhayl. And the riba of the Jahiliyyah is abolished, and the first riba I abolish is the riba of 'Abbas b. 'Abd al-Muttalib, for it is all abolished. Fear Allah concerning women, for you have taken them as a trust from Allah and have made their private parts lawful by the word of Allah. You have rights over them that they should not allow anyone you dislike to sit on your bedding. If they do that, then strike them with a blow that is not painful. And they have rights over you: their provision and clothing according to what is reasonable. I have left among you that which, if you hold fast to it, you will never go astray after me: the Book of Allah. And you will be asked about me, so what will you say?" They said: 'We bear witness that you have conveyed and fulfilled and advised.' Then he raised his index finger to the sky and pointed it toward the people, saying: "O Allah, bear witness; O Allah, bear witness," three times.'
