أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ طَافَ سَبْعًا رَمَلَ ثَلَاثًا وَمَشَى أَرْبَعًا ثُمَّ قَرَأَ {وَاتَّخِذُوا مِنْ مَقَامِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مُصَلًّى} [البقرة 125] فَصَلَّى سَجْدَتَيْنِ جَعَلَ الْمَقَامَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْكَعْبَةِ ثُمَّ اسْتَلَمَ الرُّكْنَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِنْ شَعَائِرِ اللهِ نَبْدَأُ بِمَا بَدَأَ اللهُ بِهِ»

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ circumambulated seven times, jogging three and walking four. Then he recited {And take the Maqam of Ibrahim as a place of prayer} [al-Baqarah: 125] and prayed two prostrations, placing the Maqam between him and the Ka'bah. Then he touched the Corner, then went out and said: "Al-Safa and al-Marwah are among the rituals of Allah; we begin with what Allah began with."
