أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ
أَقْبَلْنَا مُهِلِّينَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِحَجٍّ مُفْرَدٍ وَأَقْبَلَتْ عَائِشَةُ مُهِلَّةً بِعُمْرَةٍ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَتْ بِسَرِفَ عَرَكَتْ حَتَّى إِذَا قَدِمْنَا طُفْنَا بِالْكَعْبَةِ وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَحِلَّ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْيٌ قَالَ فَقُلْنَا حِلُّ مَاذَا؟ قَالَ «الْحِلُّ كُلُّهُ» فَوَاقَعْنَا النِّسَاءَ وَتَطَيَّبْنَا بِالطِّيبِ وَلَبِسْنَا ثِيَابَنَا وَلَيْسَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ عَرَفَةَ إِلَّا أَرْبَعُ لَيَالٍ ثُمَّ أَهْلَلْنَا يَوْمَ التَّرْوِيَةِ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ فَوَجَدَهَا تَبْكِي فَقَالَ «مَا شَأْنُكِ؟» قَالَتْ شَأْنِي أَنِّي قَدْ حِضْتُ وَقَدْ حَلَّ النَّاسُ وَلَمْ أَحْلِلْ وَلَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ وَالنَّاسُ يَذْهَبُونَ إِلَى الْحَجِّ الْآنَ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ هَذَا أَمْرٌ كَتَبَهُ اللهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ فَاغْتَسِلِي ثُمَّ أَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ» فَفَعَلَتْ وَوَقَفَتْ الْمَوَاقِفَ حَتَّى إِذَا طَهُرَتْ طَافَتْ بِالْكَعْبَةِ وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ قَدْ حَلَلْتِ مِنْ حَجِّكِ وَعُمْرَتِكِ جَمِيعًا فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أَجِدُ فِي نَفْسِي أَنِّي لَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ حَتَّى حَجَجْتُ قَالَ فَاذْهَبْ بِهَا يَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ فَأَعْمِرْهَا مِنَ التَّنْعِيمِ وَذَلِكَ لَيْلَةَ الْحَصْبَةِ

✧ We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reciting the talbiyah for Hajj alone. ʿĀʾishah set out reciting the talbiyah for ʿUmrah. When she was at Sarif, she began menstruating. When we arrived, we circumambulated the Kaʿbah and went between al-Ṣafā and al-Marwah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded those of us who had not brought a sacrificial animal to exit ihram. We said, 'Exit from what?' He said, 'From everything.' So we had intercourse with our wives, applied perfume, and wore our clothes. There were only four nights between us and ʿArafah. Then we recited the talbiyah on the day of Tarwiyah. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon ʿĀʾishah and found her weeping. He said, 'What is the matter with you?' She said, 'My situation is that I have menstruated, and the people have exited ihram, but I have not. I have not circumambulated the House, and the people are now going for Hajj.' He said, 'This is a matter Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam. Perform ghusl, then recite the talbiyah for Hajj.' So she did, and she stood at the standing places. When she became pure, she circumambulated the Kaʿbah and went between al-Ṣafā and al-Marwah. Then he said, 'You have exited ihram from both your Hajj and your ʿUmrah.' She said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I feel uneasy that I did not circumambulate the House until after I performed Hajj.' He said, 'Take her, O ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, and let her perform ʿUmrah from al-Tanʿīm.' That was on the night of al-Ḥaṣbah.
