✧ Disapproval of Dyed Clothing for the Forbidden Circumstances

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى الزَّمِنُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ يَعْنِي الْقَطَّانَ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ أَتَيْنَا جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ فَسَأَلْنَاهُ

عَنْ حَجَّةِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَحَدَّثَنَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوِ اسْتَقْبَلْتُ مِنْ أَمْرِي مَا اسْتَدْبَرْتُ لَمْ أَسُقِ الْهَدْيَ وَجَعَلْتُهَا عَمْرَةً فَمَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْيٌ فَلْيُحْلِلْ وَلْيَجْعَلْهَا عُمْرَةً» وَقَدِمَ عَلِيٌّ مِنَ الْيَمَنِ بِهَدْيٍ وَسَاقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ هَدْيًا وَإِذَا فَاطِمَةُ قَدْ حَلَّتْ وَلَبِسَتْ ثِيَابًا صَبِيغًا وَاكْتَحَلَتْ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ فَانْطَلَقْتُ مُحَرِّشًا أَسْتَفْتِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَاطِمَةَ لَبِسَتْ ثِيَابًا صَبِيغًا وَاكْتَحَلَتْ وَقَالَتْ أَمَرَنِي بِهِ أَبِي قَالَ «صَدَقَتْ صَدَقَتْ صَدَقَتْ أَنَا أَمَرْتُهَا»

✧ On the authority of the farewell hajj of the Prophet ﷺ, he narrated to us that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “If I had known beforehand what I came to know afterward, I would not have brought the sacrificial animal, and I would have made it an ʿumrah. Whoever does not have a sacrificial animal with him should come out of ihram and make it an ʿumrah.” Ali had arrived from Yemen with a sacrificial animal, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had brought a sacrificial animal from Madinah. Then Fatimah had come out of ihram and put on dyed clothing and applied kohl. Ali said: “I went off, agitated, to seek the ruling of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, Fatimah has put on dyed clothing and applied kohl, and she said: “My father commanded me to do so.”’” He said: “She has spoken the truth, she has spoken the truth, she has spoken the truth. I commanded her.”
