✧ Interpretation of the saying of Allah Almighty: {Guard strictly the prayers, especially the middle prayer} [Surah al-Baqarah: 238] and mentioning the differences in the middle prayer.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي حَكِيمٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الزِّبْرِقَانَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الظُّهْرَ بِالْهَاجِرَةِ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ يُصَلِّي صَلَاةً أَشَدَّ عَلَى أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِنْهَا فَنَزَلَتْ {حَافِظُوا عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى} [البقرة 238] قَالَ إِنَّ قَبْلَهَا صَلَاتَيْنِ وَبَعْدَهَا صَلَاتَيْنِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray Zuhr at midday, and he did not pray a prayer more difficult for the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ than it. Then it was revealed: {Guard strictly the prayers, especially the middle prayer} [Al-Baqarah: 238]. He said: Before it are two prayers and after it are two prayers.
