al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 353

✧ Interpretation of the saying of Allah Almighty: {Guard strictly the prayers, especially the middle prayer} [Surah al-Baqarah: 238] and mentioning the differences in the middle prayer.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ خُشَيْشُ بْنُ أَصْرَمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَبَّانُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَبِيبٌ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ هَرِمٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

«أَدْلَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ عَرَّسَ فَلَمْ يَسْتَيْقِظْ حَتَّى طَلَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ أَوْ بَعْضُهَا فَلَمْ يُصَلِّ حَتَّى ارْتَفَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَصَلَّى وَهِيَ صَلَاةُ الْوُسْطَى»

✧ "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out in the night, then halted to rest, and he did not wake until the sun rose or part of it, so he did not pray until the sun had risen high, then he prayed, and that is the middle prayer."
