✧ Seeking Laylat al-Qadr in the ninth, seventh, and fifth

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُبَادَةُ بْنُ الصَّامِتِ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ خَرَجَ لِيُخْبِرَنَا بِلَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ فَتَلَاحَى رَجُلَانِ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَقَالَ «إِنِّي خَرَجْتُ لِأُخْبِرَكَمْ بِلَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ وَإِنَّهُ تَلَاحَى فُلَانٌ وَفُلَانٌ فَرُفِعَتْ وَعَسَى أَنْ يَكُونَ خَيْرًا لَكُمْ فَالْتَمِسُوهَا فِي التِّسْعِ وَالسَّبْعِ وَالْخَمْسِ»

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ came out to inform us about Laylat al-Qadr, but two men among the Muslims argued. He said: “I came out to inform you about Laylat al-Qadr, but so-and-so and so-and-so argued, and it was taken away. Perhaps that is better for you. So seek it in the ninth, the seventh, and the fifth.”
