✧ Accounting for neglecting prayer

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنِ الْأَزْرَقِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَعْمُرَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ أَوَّلَ مَا يُحَاسَبُ بِهِ الْعَبْدُ صَلَاتُهُ فَإِنْ كَانَ أَكْمَلَهَا وَإِلَّا قَالَ اللهُ انْظُرُوا أَلِعَبْدِي مِنْ تَطَوُّعٍ فَإِنْ وُجِدَ لَهُ تَطَوُّعٌ قَالَ أَكْمِلُوا بِهِ الْفَرِيضَةَ

✧ From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: He said, “The first thing for which a servant will be brought to account is his prayer. If he completed it, [all is well]; otherwise, Allah says, ‘Look and see if My servant has any voluntary prayers.’ If voluntary prayers are found for him, He says, ‘Complete the obligatory prayer with them.’”
