أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ
بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أُسَيْدَ بْنَ حُضَيْرٍ وَنَاسًا يَطْلُبُونَ قِلَادَةً كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ نَسِيَتْهَا فِي مَنْزِلٍ نَزَلَتْهُ فَحَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ وَلَيْسُوا عَلَى وُضُوءٍ وَلَمْ يَجِدُوا مَاءً فَصَلَّوْا بِغَيْرِ وُضُوءٍ فَذَكَرُوا ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ آيَةَ التَّيَمُّمِ فَقَالَ أُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ جَزَاكِ اللهُ خَيْرًا فَوَاللهِ مَا نَزَلَ بِكِ أَمْرٌ تَكْرَهِينَهُ إِلَّا جَعَلَ اللهُ لَكِ وَلِلْمُسْلِمِينَ فِيهِ خَيْرَهُ تَمَّ كِتَابُ الطَّهَارَةِ مِنَ الْمُصَنَّفِ بِحَمْدِ اللهِ وَحُسَنِ عَوْنِهِ
Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent Usayd b. Hudayr and some people to look for a necklace that 'A'ishah had forgotten at a place where they had camped. The time for prayer came, and they were not in a state of wudu and could not find water, so they prayed without wudu. They mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and Allah revealed the verse of tayammum. Usayd b. Hudayr said: May Allah reward you with good, for by Allah, no matter comes upon you that you dislike except that Allah makes good in it for you and for the Muslims.
