أَخْبَرَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ دَاوُدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ بَكْرِ بْنِ مُضَرَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ عِرَاكِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ «مَنْ أَدْرَكَهُ الصُّبْحُ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ فَلَا يَصُمْ» فَأُخْبِرَ بِذَلِكَ مِنْ قَوْلِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بن عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ أَبَاهُ فَأَخْبَرَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ مَرْوَانَ فَقَالَ
مَرْوَانُ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَزَمْتُ عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا سَأَلْتَ عَائِشَةَ وَأَمَّ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَسَأَلَهُمَا فَقَالَتَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا ثُمَّ يَصُومُ فَأَخْبَرَ بِذَلِكَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ مَرْوَانَ فَقَالَ عَزَمْتُ عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا لَقِيتَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ فَأَخْبَرْتَهُ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ لِمَرْوَانَ أَتَخَوَّفُ أَنْ يَقُولَ يَتَعَقَّبُ كَلَامِي قَالَ عَزَمْتُ عَلَيْكَ فَلَقِيَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بِأَرْضٍ لَهُ قَرِيبٍ مِنَ الْجُحْفَةِ فَأَخْبَرَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ أَخْبَرَنِي بِذَلِكَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ

✧ Marwan said to Abd al-Rahman: I adjure you, you must ask Aisha and Umm Salama about that. So he asked them, and they said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wake up in a state of major ritual impurity and then fast. Abd al-Rahman informed Marwan of that, and he said: I adjure you, you must meet Abu Huraira and inform him. Abd al-Rahman said to Marwan: I fear that he may say something that will contradict my words. He said: I adjure you. So Abd al-Rahman met him at a piece of land of his near al-Juhfa and informed Abu Huraira. Abu Huraira said: Al-Fadl b. Abbas informed me of that.
