✧ The fasting of the living from the dead and mentioning the disagreement of those who transmit the news in it.

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَغْرَاءَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ الْبَطِينِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَعَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَعَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عُتَيْبَةَ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ أَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ أُمِّي مَاتَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا صَوْمُ شَهْرٍ أَفَأَقْضِيهِ عَنْهَا؟ قَالَ «أَرَأَيْتِ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَيْهَا دَيْنٌ أَكُنْتِ تَقْضِينَهُ؟» قَالَتْ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَدَيْنُ اللهِ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُقْضَى»

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ that a woman came to him and said, “My mother died owing a month’s fast; shall I make it up for her?” He said, “What do you think? If she had a debt, would you pay it?” She said, “Yes.” He said, “Then the debt owed to Allah is more deserving of being paid.”
