أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمِّي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ مَسْعُودِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ أُمِّهِ أَنَّهَا حَدَّثَتْهُ قَالَتْ

كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ وَهُوَ عَلَى بَغْلَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْبَيْضَاءِ حِينَ وَقَفَ عَلَى شِعْبِ الْأَنْصَارِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّهَا لَيْسَتْ بِأَيَّامِ صِيَامٍ إِنَّمَا هِيَ أَيَّامُ أَكْلٍ وَشُرْبٍ وَذِكْرٍ»

Translation

✧ It is as if I am looking at 'Ali b. Abi Talib while he was on the white mule of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he stopped at the mountain pass of the Ansar, saying: "O people, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ says: 'They are not days of fasting; they are only days of eating, drinking, and remembrance.'"
