✧ The fasting of Sunday.

أَخْبَرَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُمَرَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ

أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ بَعَثَ إِلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ وَإِلَى عَائِشَةَ يَسْأَلُهُمَا مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُحِبُّ أَنْ يَصُومَ مِنَ الْأَيَّامِ فَقَالَتَا مَا مَاتَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى كَانَ أَكْثَرُ صَوْمِهِ يَوْمَ السَّبْتِ وَالْأَحَدِ وَيَقُولُ «هُمَا عِيدَانِ لِأَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ فَنَحْنُ نُحِبُّ أَنْ نُخَالِفَهُمْ»

✧ Ibn Abbas sent to Umm Salamah and Aishah asking them which days the Messenger of Allah ﷺ loved to fast. They said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not die until most of his fasting was on Saturday and Sunday, and he would say: 'These are two festivals for the People of the Book, so we love to differ from them.'
