أَخْبَرَنِي شُعَيْبُ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّ بِرَجُلٍ فِي ظِلِّ شَجَرَةٍ يُرَشُّ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءُ قَالَ «مَا بَالُ صَاحِبِكُمْ هَذَا» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَامَ قَالَ «إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنَ الْبِرِّ أَنْ تَصُومُوا فِي السَّفَرِ وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِرُخْصَةِ اللهِ الَّتِي رَخَّصَ لَكُمْ فَاقْبَلُوهَا» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا خَطَأٌ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ مِنْ جَابِرٍ 2579 أَخْبَرَنِي مَحْمُودُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْفِرْيَابِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَنْ سَمِعَ جَابِرًا نَحْوَهُ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a man in the shade of a tree while water was being sprinkled on him. He said, “What is the matter with this companion of yours?” They said: O Messenger of Allah, he is fasting. He said, “It is not part of righteousness that you fast while traveling. You should accept the concession of Allah that He has granted you, so accept it.” Abu Abd al-Rahman said: This is a mistake, and Muhammad b. Abd al-Rahman did not hear this hadith from Jabir. 2579 Mahmud b. Khalid informed me, he said: Al-Firyabi narrated to us, he said: Al-Awza'i narrated to us, he said: Yahya narrated to me, he said: Muhammad b. Abd al-Rahman narrated to me, he said: Someone who heard Jabir narrated to me something similar.
