al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 2514

✧ The reward of the one who observes Ramadan with faith and seeking reward, and the mention of the disagreement regarding al-Zuhri in the narration about that.

أَخْبَرَنِي زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ يُونُسَ الْأَيْلِيِّ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ خَرَجَ فِي جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ فَصَلَّى فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَصَلَّى النَّاسُ وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ وَفِيهِ قَالَ وَكَانَ يُرَغِّبُهُمْ فِي قِيَامِ رَمَضَانَ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يَأْمُرَهُمْ بِعَزِيمَةٍ وَيَقُولُ «مَنْ قَامَ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ» قَالَ فَتُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَالْأَمْرُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out in the middle of the night and prayed in the mosque, and the people prayed, and he mentioned the hadith. In it he said: He used to encourage them to stand in prayer during Ramadan without commanding them to do so as an obligation, and he would say: Whoever stands in prayer on the Night of Decree out of faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven. He said: Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away and the matter remained thus.
