أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يُرَغِّبُ فِي قِيَامِ رَمَضَانَ مِنْ غَيْرِ عَزِيمَةٍ وَقَالَ «إِذَا دَخَلَ رَمَضَانُ فُتِّحَتْ أَبْوَابُ الْجَنَّةِ وَغُلِّقَتْ أَبْوَابُ الْجَحِيمِ وَسُلْسِلَتْ فِيهِ الشَّيَاطِينُ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَرْسَلَهُ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ used to encourage the night prayer of Ramadan without making it obligatory. He said: 'When Ramadan enters, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of the Blazing Fire are closed, and the devils are chained therein.' Abu Abd al-Rahman said: Ibn al-Mubarak narrated it as mursal.
