أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ الْعَطَّارُ الْبَصْرِيُّ لَزِمَ مَكَّةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ قَالَ

سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَعْطَانِي ثُمَّ سَأَلْتُهُ فَأَعْطَانِي ثُمَّ سَأَلْتُهُ فَأَعْطَانِي فَقَالَ «إِنَّ هَذَا الْمَالَ حُلْوَةٌ خَضِرَةٌ فَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِطِيبِ نَفْسٍ بُورِكَ لَهُ فِيهِ وَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِإِشْرَافِ نَفْسٍ لَمْ يُبَارَكْ لَهُ فِيهِ وَكَانَ كَالَّذِي يَأْكُلُ وَلَا يَشْبَعُ وَالْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى»

✧ I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he gave me, then I asked him and he gave me, then I asked him and he gave me. Then he said, “This wealth is sweet and green. Whoever takes it with a good heart will be blessed in it, and whoever takes it with greed will not be blessed in it, and he will be like one who eats but is never satisfied. And the upper hand is better than the lower hand.”
