أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَدِيِّ بْنِ الْخِيَارِ
أَنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ حَدَّثَاهُ أَنَّهُمَا أَتَيَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَسْأَلَانِهِ مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ فَقَلَّبَ فِيهِمَا الْبَصَرَ وَقَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ بَصَرَهُ فَرَآهُمَا جَلْدَيْنِ فَقَالَ «إِنْ شِئْتُمَا أَعْطَيْتُكُمَا وَلَا حَظَّ فِيهَا لِغَنِيٍّ وَلَا لِقَوِيٍّ مُكْتَسِبٍ»
Translation

✧ Two men told him that they came to the Prophet ﷺ asking him for charity. He looked them over, and Muhammad said he examined them and saw that they were strong. Then he said, “If you wish, I will give you, but there is no share in it for a rich person or for a strong person who can earn.”
