al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 238

✧ The license to break a woman's nail when washing her from impurity.

أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَيُّوبِ بْنِ مُوسَى عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ

عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي امْرَأَةٌ شَدِيدَةُ ضَفْرِ رَأْسِي أَفَأَنْقُضُهُ عِنْدَ غَسْلِهِا مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ؟ قَالَ «إِنَّمَا يَكْفِيكِ أَنْ تَحْفِنِي عَلَى رَأْسِكِ ثَلَاثَ حَفَنَاتٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ ثُمَّ تُفِيضِي عَلَى جَسَدِكِ»

✧ Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, said: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, I am a woman who braids my hair tightly. Should I undo it when washing from janabah?” He said, “It is enough for you to pour three handfuls of water on your head, then pour water over your body.”
