✧ 'Ali sent from Yemen to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a piece of gold with its dust, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ divided it among four people: al-Aqra' b. Habis al-Hanzali, 'Uyaynah b. Badr al-Fazari, 'Alqamah b. 'Ulathah al-'Amiri, then one of the Banu Kilab, and Zayd al-Ta'i, then one of the Banu Nabhan. The Quraysh became angry - and he said another time: the nobles of Quraysh - and they said: 'He gives to the nobles of Najd and leaves us out.' He said: 'I did that only to reconcile their hearts.' Then a man with a thick beard, prominent cheekbones, sunken eyes, a protruding forehead, and a shaved head came and said: 'Fear Allah, O Muhammad.' He said: 'Who would obey Allah if I disobeyed Him? Does He trust me with the people of the earth, and you do not trust me?' He said: Then the man turned away, and a man from the people asked permission to kill him - they thought it was Khalid b. al-Walid. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'No, for from the offspring of this man will come a people who recite the Qur'an but it will not pass beyond their throats. They will kill the people of Islam and leave the people of idols. They will pass out of Islam as the arrow passes through the game. If I reach them, I will kill them as 'Ad was killed.'
