أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُضَرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «خَيْرُ الصَّدَقَةِ مَا كَانَ عَنْ ظَهْرِ غِنًى وَالْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى وَابْدَأْ بِمَنْ تَعُولُ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَجْلَانَ هَذَا هُوَ وَالِدُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَجْلَانَ رَوَى عَنْهُ بُكَيْرُ وَعَجْلَانُ مَوْلَى الْمُشْمَعِلِّ رَوَى عَنْهُ ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ كِلَاهُمَا يَرْوِيَانِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

Translation

✧ From the Messenger of God ﷺ, he said: "The best charity is that given out of surplus wealth, and the upper hand is better than the lower hand, and begin with those you support." Abu Abd al-Rahman said: This Ajlan is the father of Muhammad b. Ajlan; Bukayr narrated from him. And Ajlan, the freed slave of al-Mushmaill, Ibn Abi Dhi'b narrated from him. Both of them narrate from Abu Hurayrah.
