✧ The Punishment of the Grave

أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سَمِعَ صَوْتًا مِنْ قَبْرٍ فَقَالَ «مَتَى مَاتَ هَذَا؟» قَالُوا مَاتَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَسُرَّ بِذَلِكَ وَقَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ لَا تَدَافَنُوا لَدَعَوْتُ اللهَ أَنْ يُسْمِعَكُمْ عَذَابَ الْقَبْرِ»
Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ heard a sound from a grave and said: "When did this one die?" They said: "He died in the pre-Islamic era." He was pleased with that and said: "Were it not that you would not bury one another, I would have supplicated to Allah to make you hear the punishment of the grave."
