أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ

عَنْ عَمِّهِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ أَنَّهُمْ خَرَجُوا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ فَرَأَى قَبْرًا حَدِيثًا فَقَالَ «مَا هَذَا؟» قَالُوا هَذِهِ فُلَانَةُ مَوْلَاةُ بَنِي فُلَانٍ يَعْرِفُهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَاتَتْ ظُهْرًا وَأَنْتَ صَائِمٌ قَائِلٌ فَلَمْ نُحِبَّ أَنْ نُوقِظَكَ بِهَا فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَصَفَّ النَّاسَ خَلْفَهُ «فَكَبَّرَ عَلَيْهَا أَرْبَعًا» ثُمَّ قَالَ «لَا يَمُوتَنَّ فِيكُمْ مَيِّتٌ مَا دُمْتُ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِكُمْ إِلَّا يَعْنِي آذَنْتُمُونِي بِهِ فَإِنَّ صَلَاتِي لَهُ رَحْمَةٌ»

✧ From his paternal uncle Yazid b. Thabit that they went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one day, and he saw a fresh grave. He said: “What is this?” They said: This is so-and-so, the freedwoman of Banu so-and-so, whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ knows. She died at noon while you were fasting and resting, and we did not like to wake you for her. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood and the people lined up behind him, “and he said four takbirs over her.” Then he said: “None of you should die while I am among you without informing me of it, for my prayer for him is a mercy.”
