✧ The Concurrence of the Polytheists.

أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ سُفْيَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ نَاجِيَةَ بْنِ كَعْبٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ

قُلْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنَّ عَمَّكَ الشَّيْخَ الضَّالَّ قَدْ مَاتَ فَمَنْ يُوَارِيهِ؟ قَالَ «اذْهَبْ فَوَارِ أَبَاكَ وَلَا تُحْدِثَنَّ حَدَثًا حَتَّى تَأْتِيَنِي» فَوَارَيْتُهُ ثُمَّ جِئْتُ «فَأَمَرَنِي فَاغْتَسَلْتُ» وَدَعَا لِي وَذَكَرَ لِي دُعَاءً لَمْ أَحْفَظْهُ

Translation

✧ I said to the Prophet ﷺ: "Your uncle, the misguided old man, has died; who will bury him?" He said: "Go and bury your father, and do not do anything new until you come to me." So I buried him, then I came to him, and he ordered me to perform ghusl, and he supplicated for me, and he mentioned a supplication for me that I did not memorize.
