✧ The purification from menstruation and postpartum bleeding

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ وَعُمْرَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ

أَنَّ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ خَتَنَةَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَتَحْتَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ اسْتُحِيضَتْ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ فَاسْتَفْتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ هَذِهِ لَيْسَتْ بِالْحَيْضَةِ وَلَكِنْ هَذَا عِرْقٌ فَاغْتَسِلِي وَصَلِّي»

✧ Umm Habibah, the sister-in-law of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and wife of Abd al-Rahman b. Awf, suffered from prolonged uterine bleeding (istihadah) for seven years. She asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for a ruling about that, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “This is not menstruation; rather, it is a vein. Perform ghusl and pray.”
