أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ
سَمِعْتُ الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ شُعْبَةَ يَقُولُ كَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ مَاتَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ فَقَالَ النَّاسُ كَسَفَتْ لِمَوْتِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللهِ لَا يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ وَلَا لِحَيَاتِهِ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُ فَادْعُوا اللهَ وَصَلُّوا حَتَّى يُكْشَفَ»

✧ I heard al-Mughirah b. Shu'bah say: The sun eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day Ibrahim died. People said, 'It eclipsed because of Ibrahim's death.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse for anyone's death or life. So when you see it, supplicate to Allah and pray until it clears.'
