✧ The people suffered a drought during the time of the Messenger of God ﷺ. While the Messenger of God ﷺ was delivering the Friday sermon on the pulpit, a bedouin stood up and said: O Messenger of God, livestock have perished and families are hungry, so supplicate God for us. The Messenger of God ﷺ raised his hands, and we saw not a single cloud in the sky. By Him in whose hand is my soul, he did not lower them until clouds like mountains arose. Then he did not descend from his pulpit until I saw rain dripping onto his beard. We received rain that day, and the next day, and the day after, until the next Friday. Then that bedouin stood up—or he said: another man—and said: O Messenger of God, buildings have collapsed and livestock have drowned, so supplicate God for us. The Messenger of God ﷺ raised his hands and said: “O God, around us and not upon us.” He did not point with his hand toward any direction of the clouds except that they parted, until Madinah became like a hole, and the valley flowed. No one came from any direction except that he reported abundant rain. End of the Book of Rain Prayer.
