أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ
أَصَابَنَا مَطَرٌ فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَحُسِرَ حَتَّى أَصَابَهُ الْمَطَرُ فَقِيلَ لَهُ لِمَ صَنَعْتَ هَذَا؟ فَقَالَ «إِنَّهُ حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِرَبِّهِ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ لَمْ أَفْهَمْ أَصَابَنَا وَلَا فَحُسِرَ كَمَا أَرَدْتَ

✧ Rain fell upon us, and the Messenger of God ﷺ went out and uncovered himself until the rain fell on him. It was said to him: Why did you do this? He said: “It is newly from its Lord.” Abu Abd al-Rahman said: I did not understand “rain fell upon us” nor “he uncovered himself” as I wanted.
