أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا ذَهَبَ الْمَذْهَبَ أَبَعْدَ قَالَ فَذَهَبَ لِحَاجَتِهِ وَهُوَ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ فَقَالَ «ائْتِنِي بِوَضُوءٍ» فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِوَضُوءٍ «فَتَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ»
Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ, when he went to relieve himself, would go far away. He went for his need while on one of his journeys and said, 'Bring me water for ablution.' I brought him water for ablution, and he performed ablution and wiped over his leather socks.
