أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ
لَمَّا أَسَنَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَخَذَ اللَّحْمَ «صَلَّى سَبْعَ رَكَعَاتٍ لَا يَقْعُدُ إِلَّا فِي آخِرِهِنَّ ثُمَّ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ قَاعِدٌ بَعْدَمَا يُسَلِّمُ فَتِلْكَ تِسْعٌ» وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى صَلَاةً أَحَبَّ أَنْ يُدَاوِمَ عَلَيْهَا خَالَفَهُ هِشَامٌ

✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ grew old and put on weight, he prayed seven rak'ahs, not sitting except in the last of them, then he prayed two rak'ahs sitting after he had said the salam, so that made nine. And when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed a prayer, he loved to keep doing it. Hisham disagreed with him.
