أَخبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ مَنْصُورٌ وَقَرَأْتُهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَمِعْتُهُ يُحَدِّثُ رَجُلًا عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى صَلَاةَ الظُّهْرِ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِوَجْهِهِ فَقَالُوا أَحْدَثَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ حَدَثٌ قَالَ «وَمَا ذَاكَ» فَأَخْبَرُوهُ بِصَنِيعِهِ فَثَنَى رِجْلَهُ وَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ فَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِوَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ «إِنَّمَا أَنَا بِشْرٌ مِثْلُكُمْ أَنْسَى كَمَا تَنْسَوْنَ فَإِذَا نَسِيتُ فَذَكِّرُونِي» قَالَ وَقَالَ «لَوْ كَانَ حَدَثَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ حَدَثٌ أَنْبَأْتُكُمْ» قَالَ وَقَالَ «إِذَا أَوْهَمَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاةٍ فَلْيَتَحَرَّ أَقْرَبَ ذَلِكَ مِنَ الصَّوَابِ ثُمَّ لِيُتِمَّ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ لِيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the Zuhr prayer, then turned to face them. They said: Something occurred in the prayer. He said: 'What is that?' They told him what he had done. He bent his leg, faced the qiblah, prostrated twice, then said the salam, then turned to face them and said: 'I am only human like you; I forget as you forget, so when I forget, remind me.' He said: 'If something had occurred in the prayer, I would have told you.' And he said: 'When one of you is in doubt in a prayer, let him seek out what is closer to what is correct, then complete accordingly, then prostrate twice.'
