أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ {أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ حَتَّى زُرْتُمُ الْمَقَابِرَ} [التكاثر 2] قَالَ يَقُولُ ابْنُ آدَمُ مَالِي مَالِي وَإِنَّ مَا لَكَ مِنْ مَالِكِ مَا أَكَلْتَ فَأَفْنَيْتَ أَوْ لَبِسْتَ فَأَبْلَيْتَ أَوْ أَعْطَيْتَ فَأَمْضَيْتَ
Translation

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ: {The mutual rivalry for piling up diverts you, until you visit the graves} [At-Takathur 2]. He said: "The son of Adam says: 'My wealth, my wealth,' but indeed of your wealth you have only what you eat and consume, or wear and wear out, or give and send forth."
