✧ Abu Hurairah said: The Prophet ﷺ prayed one of the two evening prayers with us. Abu Hurairah said: But I forgot which one. He said: “He prayed two units with us, then gave the salutation. Then he went to a piece of wood placed across the mosque and placed his hand on it as if he was angry. The hasty ones left through the doors of the mosque,” and they said: The prayer has been shortened. Among the people were Abu Bakr and Umar, but they were too awed to speak to him. Among the people was a man with long hands who was called Dhul-Yadayn. He said: O Messenger of Allah, did you forget or has the prayer been shortened? He said: “I did not forget and the prayer has not been shortened.” He said: And he said: Is it as Dhul-Yadayn says? They said: Yes. So he came and prayed what he had left, then gave the salutation, then said takbir and prostrated the like of his prostration or longer, then raised his head and said takbir, then said takbir and prostrated the like of his prostration or longer, then raised his head and said takbir.
