أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ ثَوْرٍ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ احْتَجَّتِ الْجَنَّةُ وَالنَّارُ فَقَالَتِ الْجَنَّةُ يَا رَبِّ مَا لِي لَا يَدْخُلُنِي إِلَّا فُقَرَاءُ النَّاسِ وَمَسَاكِينُهُمْ وَسُقَّاطُهُمْ وَقَالَتِ النَّارُ يَا رَبِّ مَا لِي لَا يَدْخُلُنِي إِلَّا الْجَبَّارُونَ وَالْمُتَكَبِّرُونَ فَقَالَ لِلنَّارِ أَنْتَ عَذَابِي أُصِيبُ بِكِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ وَقَالَ لِلْجَنَّةِ أَنْتَ رَحْمَتِي أُصِيبُ بِكِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ وَلِكُلِّ وَاحِدَةٍ مِنْكُمْ مِلْؤُهَا فَأَمَّا أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ فَإِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يُنْشِئُ لَهَا مَا شَاءَ وَأَهْلُ النَّارِ فَيُلْقَوْنَ فِيهَا فَتَقُولُ هَلْ مِنْ مَزِيدٍ؟ حَتَّى يَضَعَ قَدَمَهُ فِيهَا فَهُنَاكَ تَمْتَلِئُ وَيَنْزَوِي بَعْضُهَا إِلَى بَعْضٍ وَتَقُولُ قَطُّ قَطُّ قَطُّ
Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ said: "Paradise and Hell argued. Paradise said: 'O Lord, what is wrong with me that none enters me but the poor, the needy, and the lowly?' Hell said: 'O Lord, what is wrong with me that none enters me but the tyrants and the arrogant?' He said to Hell: 'You are My punishment; with you I afflict whom I will.' And He said to Paradise: 'You are My mercy; with you I bestow mercy upon whom I will. And for each of you there is its fill.' As for the people of Paradise, God ﷻ will create for it what He wills, and the people of Hell will be cast into it, and it will say: 'Is there any more?' until He places His foot in it, and then it is filled and its parts draw together, and it says: 'Enough, enough, enough.'"
