أَخْبَرَنَا هِلَالُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ قَالَ

كَانَ رَجُلٌ يَقْرَأُ فِي دَارِهِ سُورَةَ الْكَهْفِ وَإِلَى جَانِبِهِ حِصَانٌ مَرْبُوطٌ حَتَّى تَغَشَّتْهُ سَحَابَةٌ فَجَعَلَتْ تَدْنُو وَتَدْنُو حَتَّى جَعَلَ الْفَرَسُ يَفِرُّ مِنْهَا قَالَ الرَّجُلُ فَعَجِبْتُ لِذَلِكَ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ لَهُ وَقَصَّ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «تِلْكَ السَّكِينَةُ تَنَزَّلَتْ لِلْقُرْآنِ»

✧ A man was reciting Sūrat al-Kahf in his house, and beside him was a tethered horse. A cloud enveloped him and kept drawing nearer and nearer until the horse began to shy away from it. The man was amazed by that, and when morning came he went to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned it to him and related the story. The Prophet ﷺ said: “That was the tranquility (al-sakīnah) that descended because of the Qur’an.”
