أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَنْصُورٌ وَسُلَيْمَانُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ

أَنْ يَهُودِيًّا جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ إِنَّ اللهَ يُمْسِكُ السَّمَوَاتِ عَلَى إِصْبُعٍ وَالْأَرَضِينَ عَلَى إِصْبُعٍ وَالْجِبَالَ وَالْخَلَائِقَ عَلَى إِصْبُعٍ قَالَ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ أَنَا الْمَلِكُ فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى بَدَتْ نَوَاجِذُهُ وَقَالَ {وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ} [الأنعام 91] [240] قَالَ يَحْيَى وَزَادَ فِيهِ فُضَيْلُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ تَعَجُّبًا وَتَصْدِيقًا قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ خَالَفَهُ عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ رَوَاهُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ

Translation

✧ A Jew came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Muhammad, Allah holds the heavens on one finger, the earths on one finger, the mountains and the creatures on one finger." He said, "Then He says, 'I am the King.'" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed until his molars appeared and said, {And they did not appraise Allah with true appraisal} [al-An'am: 91]. [240] Yahya said: Fudayl b. 'Iyad added in it, from Mansur, from Ibrahim, from 'Ubayda, from 'Abd Allah: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed in wonder and in confirmation. Abu 'Abd al-Rahman said: 'Isa b. Yunus disagreed with him; he narrated it from al-A'mash, from Ibrahim, from 'Alqama, from 'Abd Allah.
