أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا رَوْحٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ عَنْ خِلَاسٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ كَانَ مُوسَى حَيِيًّا سِتِّيرًا لَا يُرِي مِنْ جِلْدِهِ شَيْئًا اسْتِحْيَاءً فَآذَاهُ بَعْضُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فَقَالُوا مَا يَسْتَتِرُ هَذَا السِّتْرَ إِلَّا مِنْ شَيْءٍ بِجِلْدِهِ إِمَّا بَرَصٌ وَإِمَّا أُدْرَةٌ أَوْ آفَةٌ فَدَخَلَ لِيَغْتَسِلَ وَوَضَعَ ثِيَابَهُ عَلَى الْحَجَرِ فَعَدَا الْحَجَرُ بِثِيَابِهِ فَخَرَجَ يَشْتَدُّ فِي أَثَرِهِ فَرَآهُ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ أَحْسَنَ النَّاسِ خَلْقًا وَأَبْرَأَهُ مِمَّا يَقُولُونَ فَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ ﷻ {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ آذَوْا مُوسَى} [الأحزاب 69] 11361 أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ عَنْ عَوْفٍ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ

Translation

✧ From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said: 'Moses was a shy and modest man who never showed any part of his skin out of shyness. Some of the Children of Israel annoyed him and said: He only hides himself like this because of some defect in his skin, either leprosy, or a scrotal hernia, or some affliction. He went in to bathe and placed his clothes on a rock, and the rock ran away with his clothes. He went out chasing after it, and the Children of Israel saw him as the best of people in form and the most innocent of what they said. That is the saying of Him ﷻ: {O you who have believed, do not be like those who abused Moses} [al-Ahzab: 69].' [11361] Ishaq b. Ibrahim informed us; he said: al-Nadr informed us from Awf with this chain, the like of it.
